THE HOMEWORK LOAD NEEDS TO STOP – THEY ARE STEALING OUR KIDS’ CHILDHOOD

In a small town, there lived a mother named Lan and her little daughter, An. An used to be a cheerful, energetic girl, always running and laughing on summer afternoons. But everything changed when the new school year began. Lan noticed that An was no longer excited to go to school like before. The little girl came home with tired eyes, her desk piled high with homework, making Lan feel as if her heart was being squeezed.

Each evening, after a long day at work, Lan returned home to find An sitting at the study desk, head lowered, pencil in hand but her eyes vacant. “Mom, I don’t understand this,” An whispered, and Lan felt a wave of sorrow wash over her. She tried to sit down next to her daughter, but the complex physics problems left her feeling bewildered. “Why do they have to learn these things?” Lan wondered as she watched An struggle with numbers and formulas.

Nights passed, and Lan sensed a significant change in An. The bright little princess was now a tired child, always anxious about grades and assignments. “Mom, I don’t want to go to school anymore,” An said one day, and Lan felt as if her world was collapsing. She had always dreamed of a bright future for her daughter, but now An just wanted to return to carefree days.

Lan decided it was time to take action. She joined a group of parents at the school to discuss the homework load that students faced. During a meeting, Lan stood up, filled with determination. “We can’t keep doing this. Our children are having their childhood stolen. They deserve to play, explore, and learn naturally, not face nightmares filled with homework.”

Lan’s words echoed in the room, and many other parents agreed. They began organizing meetings to send petitions to the school administration, requesting a reduction in homework and a search for more effective teaching methods. They discussed creative ways of learning and extracurricular activities that children could engage in to develop holistically.

After a while, their efforts bore fruit. The school administration agreed to reduce homework and encouraged teachers to adopt new teaching methods. An began to feel relieved, and the smile returned to her face. She could spend time playing with friends, engaging in arts and sports that she loved.

One afternoon, when Lan returned home, she saw An painting in the yard. The little girl was beaming, her eyes sparkling with joy. “Mom, look! I’m painting a picture about a fairy tale world!” Lan felt warmth fill her heart. She knew that, at last, she had regained her daughter’s childhood.

“That’s a beautiful painting, An,” Lan said, and they sat down together, enjoying precious moments with one another. They had fought to reclaim childhood, and now An was once again the radiant princess that Lan had always known. Their story was not just a battle against homework loads; it was a journey in search of joy and freedom in the tender years of youth.
