When the time came, I called Jacob and told him he could come to collect his precious keychain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jacob tried to get out of it, and I knew what the reason was. My calculations were correct.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cJessie\u2019s due date is on Saturday,\u201d he said. \u201cI need to be with her. I need to see my son the moment he comes out.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But I was unfazed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another thing that Jacob didn\u2019t pay attention to was the familiarity between us. The entire time we sat together talking, he kept reaching for my arm or running his hand down my back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sure, it meant nothing to me. And probably nothing to him, too. But I knew it would mean something to Jessie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When he arrived, the matron wouldn\u2019t tell him why he couldn\u2019t see his newborn or Jessie. Security had to escort him out as he yelled and pleaded, making a scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
